  2. HACETTEPE UNIVERSITYSchool of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation • School of PTR was founded in 1961 • It was aimed to educate rehabilitation therapists in occupational therapy, prostethic-orthotic and speech therapy besides physical therapy.

  3. HACETTEPE UNIVERSITYSchool of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation • The education programme included occupational therapy, vocational rehabilitation, industrial rehabilitation etc. as subjects.

  4. OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY DEPARTMENT • OT Unit was founded in 1981 in Hacettepe Hospital. In this unit recreation activities like carpet making, ceramics, art were mostly performed. • The Unit was moved to the School of PTR in 1984. • In USA, Canada and UK, the occupational therapy studies were investigated. Hülya Kayıhan, PhD., Prof. Hülya Yücel, MsC. Mine Uyanık, PhD., Prof. Çiğdem Öksüz, MsC. Tülin Düger, PhD., Assoc. Prof. Semin Bilgütay, MsC. Gonca Bumin, PhD., Assoc. Prof. Songül Atasavun, MsC. Esra Akı, PhD., Assoc. Prof. Evren Açık, MsC.

  5. GROWTH There were specialisations in the subjects like • Sensory Integration Unit was formed. Vocational Rehabilitation Unit was founded. • Vocational Rehabilitation Center was founded in 1991 with support of United Nations. • Functional capacity evaluation and work simulation system were founded.

  6. OT application for CP, Rett Syndrome, Down Syndrome • Community based occupational therapy studies and home rehabilitation • Low Vision Unit was established in 2003.

  7. Occupational Therapy MS and PhD Programmes • Occupational therapy MS and PhD programmes were opened in Hacettepe University - Health Sciences Institute - 1998. • 21 master and 9 doctorate thesis were written. • For the bachelor programme, application is made and we are waiting for a response from Higher Education Council.
