  2. Diet Two things the American Alligator eats is turtles and birds. American Alligators are carnivores.

  3. Structures Their eyes, ears, and nose are positioned so they can stalk their pray while their in the water. • They have a third eyelid that covers their eye as they move throughthe water.

  4. Behavior Alligators undergo periods of sleep in cold weather.. The mother hides the eggs and stays close by for about 65 days..

  5. Habitat • Alligators live in large shallow water , lakes , marshes , ponds , swamps , rivers , creeks , and canals in brackish water areas.

Interesting Facts • Crocodilians have existed for more than 150 million years. • Male alligators can way more than a ton. • They can breathe while their body is under water. • The alligator in the Fort Worth Zoo sits so still that people throw money because they think that he is a statue in a wishing well.
