  1. Webquest project Done by: CAMWHORE Zhao Liang Vivien Min Yuan Sean Hui Chin Yue

  2. The iPad • Release date. - April 2010 (iPad) - March 2011 (iPad 2) • Main features. - Internet Access. (Mail/Facebok) - Music and Videos (Entertainment) - Applications (Maps/Games/ETC.)

  3. Price of the iPad. • How’s the price determined. - By the cost of producton. ( higher cost of production higher the price of price of iPad. ) - By the demand for the product. (higher price of good lower quantity demanded, ceteris paribus.) • The 16GB, Wi-Fi-only version costs $500, while the 32GB is $600 and 64GB is $700. Pricing increases by $130 to add 3G.

  4. Complement and Substitute products. • Substitutes products are alternative-products to iPad. • The pricing of these substitutes will affect the demand for iPad • For Eg: Samsung Galaxy Tab. • Complements products are goods that are used jointly together • When the quantity demanded for iPad increase, the demands for complements increase. • For Eg: Screen protectors/ Accessories related to iPad.

  5. How recent developments affect marketing & pricing decisions of the iPad. Consumer’s point of view. • Price • Function Producer’s point of view • Improvement of technology • Reduction in selling price

  6. function • A newer version of Bluetooth • Superior hand over iPad with regard to RAM. • camera, video recording, phone features and flash support that iPad does not have. Thus, consumers would be more inclined to buy the substitute good as they are drawn to the variety of functions that the substitutes have.

  7. price • The price of iPad (first generation) ranges from $499 to $699 (Wi-Fi model) and $629 to $829 (3G model). • Generally, the substitute products are more costly than iPad. As a result, customers who were drawn to the substitute good may be drawn to buy the iPad due to its lower selling price.

  8. Improvement of technology • iPad – iPad 2 • camera • 13.4mm to 8.8mm • A5 chip dual core processor • 2X faster CPU • 9X faster graphics • Same low power as A4. • Around 10 h of battery life (9.33h for iPad, 10.26h for iPad 2) • High demand increase in quantity supplied maximise profits for producers.

  9. Reduction in selling price • Law of demand states that: higher price of good lower quantity demanded, ceteris paribus. • Hence, reduction in selling price higher quantity demanded, ceteris paribus. • Producers tend to gain as there is an increase in consumers of the good and thus, maximizing profits.
