  2. Scenario / Case study Three (or more) schools from different European countries are working on a “Comenius I” collaborative project. Benefits: meeting a new culture, team work and of course…transportability Difficulties arisen: lack of a common communication platform to work with Proposal: eTwinning action of eLearning Programme

  3. eTwinning and Comenius By combining eTwinning with Comenius: • With one collaborative project you can take part in two European Programs, without further effort • You can communicate and collaborate instantly with each other, through a “pool of varied eTwinning tools” • You also become member of the wide network of eTwinning European schools (above 9.000 schools at the moment) • Finally, you can take part in the National and European eTwinning Awards with lots of grand prizes!

  4. How-to: Comenius schools in eTwinning • 1.2 schools (let’s name them leader schools) of the Comenius consortium register for eTwinning • 2.Leader1 school seeks for the Leader2 school in the eTwinning database of registered schools (Twinfinder) • 3.Leader1 registers a partnership with Leader2 • 4. Through TwinSpace, the two leaders invite all other schools of the Comenius consortium to join the eTwinning partnership • 5.From that moment on the Comenius schools can communicate with eTwinning tools!

  5. 1st step: Leaders register foreTwinning (1/2) In order to joineTwinning and use its tools the registration of your school is required electronically at: http://www.etwinning.net The eTwinning portal is a complete partner’s finding, communication and collaboration portal, translated in all languages of the 27participating countries.

  6. Leaders register foreTwinning (2/2) During the registration of your schools you have to provide information on: you, Registrant Data, Twinning preferences, School Data and the school profile. In the Registrant Data form you’ll provide a username and a password, which you will be using from now on to have access to the special eTwinning platform. In the Twinning preferences form, provide the theme, a description andthe communication language of your partnership. These info will have to comply with your Comenius project.

  7. 1.From the moment you register, you can log in using your username and password. 2.From now on you can access a special platform of communication and collaboration tools, the eTwinning desktop. 2nd step: Seeking for the other leader (1/3)

  8. 1.Twinfinder will automatically offer you with schools that match with your profile. 2.Twinfinder can also help you further to define criteria and easily find Leader2 by searching e.g. for the name of the school. Seeking for the other leader (2/3) One of the leader schools, suppositively Leader1, must find Leader2 in the schools’ Database of eTwinning to twin up with. This is done by Twinfinder.

  9. Seeking for the other leader(3/3) When you find your Leader2 school, you have to add it to your “My Candidates” list, which is a list of your possible partners to twin up with. This is done by clicking on the icon of the column “Actions”.

  10. “My Candidates” list 1-Assuming that you have found Leader2 and have added him to your Candidates, you can see your Candidates list by clicking on the . 2-With icons you can send a message to your partner or organize a chat. . 3-One of you must register the eTwinning partnership. This is done by clicking on the icon

  11. 3rd step: Registering your partnership As long as you find Leader2 and add him to your Candidates list, you have to register your partnership by clicking on the icon beside the entry of Leader2 in your Candidates list.Describe briefly your partnership in the registration partnership form. After you submit the partnership, Leader2 will receive an email to verify the partnership. Thereinafter, the NSSs will receive your request for partnership and approve the request within a week. This is it! You are officially granted with the eTwinning label!

Other Functionsof youreTwinning desktop Your desktop is the starting page for all your eTwinning communication and collaboration activities.From your eTwinning desktop you can access: • YourProfile: For changing your profile or your password • TheChator your Mailbox: For communicating with other partners • Your TwinSpace:A private workspace for the twinned partners only, a user friendly Content Management System, where you can exchange archives, share a forum, a bulletin board, a calendar, have a chat and also invite schools or persons to this restricted area! • YourProgress card:In order to record and monitor your project’s evolution • Your eTwinning label:All registered schools with an eTwinning partnership are granted with this official document
