  4. External Female Genitalia MONS PUBIS Mound of fatty tissue covering the pubic bone. LABIA MAJORA Two outer folds of tissue covering the vaginal opening. LABIA MINORA Two folds of skin within the labia majora. INTROITUS The Vaginal opening. CLITORIS Sensitive female sex organ, which becomes erect when sexually excited. PERINEUM The area between the back of the vaginal opening and the anus.

  5. Internal Female Genitalia VAGINA 3-5 inch tubular passage leading to the internal reproductive areas that connect with the uterus. UTERUS Pear-shaped, muscular organ within the pelvic cavity where the fetus develops; also called the womb. CERVIX Lower portion of the uterus that connects with the vagina. FALLOPIAN TUBES 4 inch tubular passage leading from the upper portion of the uterus to each of the two ovaries. OVARIES Almond-shaped female sex glands that produce eggs, and the hormones estrogen and progesterone.

  9. Internal Male Genitalia SEMINIFEROUS TUBULES Hollow, cylindrical structures that make up most of the testes and produce sperm. EPIDIDYMIS Storage structure along the top of each testicle where sperm cells mature. VAS DEFERENS Tubes that carry the sperm from the epididymis up the ejaculatory duct. SEMINAL VESICLES Glands that produce a fluid suitable for sperm mobility. PROSTATE GLAND Organ that produces seminal fluid. COWPER’S GLAND Two pea-sized organs that produce pre-ejaculatory fluid.

  10. External Male Genitalia PENIS Male organ of sexual activity. GLANS Sensitive tip of the penis important to sexual arousal. URETHRA Long duct runs through the center of the penis, carries and releases urine as well as semen. SCROTUM Loose pouch of skin containing testes. TESTES Almond-shaped male sex glands that produce sperm and testosterone.
