  2. Tonight We • Distribute information • Meet as Patrols • Meet you staff Advisor / Guide • Elect a Patrol Leader & Scribe • Meet a Mentor(s) for your Patrol • Set your Patrol calendar and communication methods Return for Closing by 8:30 pm.

Monmouth Council’s Current PlanIt’s Genesis • Our current Strategic Plan was completed in late 2006 • Scouting in Monmouth County had a tumultuous 2 years prior to 2006 • Financial Stress • Camps underutilized • Public and Scout Family uncertainty for our future • New professional and Executive Board Leadership

Since 2006 Measurable Success • Improved: Council, District and Unit training, participation & operations • Improved: Family and Community financial support of Scouting • Improved: Program at our Camps and Activities • Improved: Camp facilities • Expanded: Utilization of our camps by Scouts and outside groups • Expanded: Revenue from new resources • Grew: Membership, Retention, Endowment

Our 2ND CENTURY Challenge Just Sustaining where we are - Scouting will not last another Century • Facts: • Scouting in Monmouth County is currently a minority in a growing diverse general population with no Scouting connection • Multinational, Religious, Cultural, Economic groups, families and communities have no historic connection to Scouting & no idea how we can help them.

  7. Our Plan • Goal: Develop and Grow Scouting in every community in Monmouth County Use 4 Core BSA Strategic Pillars • Membership • Resource • Leadership Development • Program Delivery Embed Branding of Scouting, Youth Advocacy & Innovation in all the Targeted Recommendations

Our Monmouth Scouting Pioneers • A History Lesson:1916 No Scouting Legacy – No Alumni – No Program – No Organizational Knowledge Scouting in Monmouth County had no Troops, Packs, Posts or “Council” Volunteers and a few Scouting “Professionals” from the New York City visited civic leaders, clergy, educators in key towns to bring Scouting to their community. Scouting happened in their communities based on a desire by parents and civic leaders to help boys become purposeful men We will do it again for the next Century of Youth

A COMMUNITYScouting’s 2nd Century Definition Not a political boundary or ZIP code An identifiable demographic group of families from multinational, multiethnic, multicultural, diverse religious beliefs. • large non-traditional family structures • spanning wide economic differences • itinerant and very mobile • minimal ties to any location or community

  10. Our Plan Focus Enable Scouting to all 21st Century Communitiesin Monmouth County • Market Scouting • Erase skewed or prejudiced views • Educate what Scouting can provide to them

  11. Specific Messages SCOUTING WILL • Partner with them in development and growth of their children, family, and community. • Build healthy, contributing citizens for their families, religious organizations, and communities. • Provide a vehicle into American society wherever they go.

Timeline • Organization Meeting: January 2011 • Patrol Organization meetings: First Quarter • Patrols set Goals and Targets for Tasks • Patrols meet in March to review 5 year and 10 year recommendations • May - Patrol Recommendations are posted on Council WEB page with Scorecards • Strategic Plan is presented to the Scouting Family and Public - Annual meeting in June 2011
