  2. Motionflow™ 120Hz

  3. Motionflow™120Hz Motionflow 120Hz is a new Sony-unique technology that dramatically reproduces sharp and smooth motion like never before on LCD television. • Doubles the number of images displayed on the screen per second • Analyses objects, speeds and movement to create new images • Inserts the new created images for smoother motion in movies and sports Compared to conventional 60Hz LCD television, Motionflow 120Hz allows the television to display twice as many images per second, doubling the 60Hz frame rate to 120Hz. In marked difference to other products, this Sony-unique algorithm creates completely new images based on the incoming signal, and inserts them between the original frames to reproduce smoother, sharper motion. This dramatically reduces motion artifacts such as judder, a phenomenon in which objects jump from one position to the next instead of flowing smoothly. The result is a revolution in motion reproductionfor LCD television. In order to precisely calculate objects travelling at different speeds and directions, Motionflow 120Hz uses a newly-developed algorithm to detect and follow specific objects as well as the movement of the overall scene.

  4. Smooth Picture Motion Smoothness of pictures in motion depend on: • Panel response time • BRAVIA/SXRD TVs still boast some of industry’s fastest response time • Number & quality of images displayedevery second • Current NTSC standard: 60 frames/sec

  5. High Frame Rate High Frame Rate Sony Unique Frame Creation • Display more images per second • Double the number of images (frames) that can be displayed on the screen every second • NTSC Broadcast: 60fps > 120 fps • Movie: 24fps > 120fps Creates “new” frames via a real time process from the adjacent frames. These are then inserted between the original frames to realize smoother motion.
