Non-communicable diseases • Diabetes: • - Estimated prevalence 2-8% • 50% of amputations at the Haiti State University Hospital • 50% of the cases are not diagnosed • Cardiovascular diseases: • - 40% of admissions at the Haiti State University Hospital • - 70% associated with HTA • Injuries • 2,300 victims of injuries in 1997 • 380 deaths due to violence in 1997 No surveillance of NCDs in Haiti
