  2. UPA Youth Programs for Leagues • Youth Club Championships • UPA Coaching Corps • State Championships and State Youth Coordinators • PE Outreach • Educational and Instructional Resources

Youth Club Championships • New Event Beginning in August 2005 • UPA Sanctioned Youth Leagues apply for bids based on # of players in the league • League chooses team(s) to represent them • Three divisions (Open, Women, Mixed) • This event will be expanded to attempt accommodate teams from all qualifying leagues

UPA Coaching Corps • What is it: • Program to train and certify Ultimate coaches • Currently 6 instructors and 12 clinics annually • 2005 – train 6-8 more instructors • Useful for: • Established leagues that are looking to professionalize coaching and ensure that coaches are qualified • New youth leagues that are trying to identify potential coaches and organize

  5. HS State Championships and State Youth Coordinators • Event where HS based teams compete in the Spring for State Championship • 8 UPA State Championships in 2004, 13 Planned for 2005 • Each State with UPA Championship has a UPA State Youth Coordinator • Administer State Championship • Helps teams and players get connected with leagues and other teams • Liaison between youth leagues in state and UPA

PE Outreach • The UPA currently attends 10 State and the National Association for Health Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (AHPERD) conferences each school year • States chosen on amount or potential of UPA organization at youth level • Promote Ultimate to PE teachers and teach them the skills to teach Ultimate • Potential Opportunities for Leagues • Including promotional materials for local adult and youth leagues at UPA booth • Hosting an instructional night for PE teachers one night of the conference

  7. Educational and Instructional Resources • Ultimate 101: Laying out the Game • UPA Instructional Kit • UPA Middle/High School Curriculum • UPA and Rhythms of Life Elementary Curriculum (Available soon)

  8. How Leagues Can Get Involved • Winter • Help promote and host UPA Coaching Clinic • Assist the UPA at state AHPERD convention • Spring • Help run State HS Championship • Summer or Fall • Run a UPA Sanctioned Youth Ultimate League
