  1. Do Now Take a moment to get ready for the quiz and ask any last minute questions. Turn your character chart and reader response into the basket.

  2. Quiz! • Act 2 quiz – do your best! • When you are finished: • Come get a Greek roots handout • When finished that, read the opening stage directions of Act 3 and write 1 paragraph about what mood is set and predict why you think this is where the act is set.

  3. Greek Roots – Unit 2 • New word family • First root: • Sta / Sti • Meaning “stand, stay”

  4. Sta, Sti • Stanch – to stop the flow of • Staunch – firm and steadfast • Extant – still in existence; not destroyed • Restive – • Resisting authority; difficult to control • Restless; fidgety

  5. Stage Directions How has Arthur Miller used stage directions in Acts 1 – 3 to set the mood? Use your book to create a T chart. Remember, mood is the feeling that the audience gets about the play.
