Physical features (continued) • Remote display option: • Install the meter inside the low voltage cabinet when local regulations do not permit over 120 V on panel doors. • Can be used to configure meter when a permanent display is not required. • Provides an additional RS232/485 communications port, configurable for 2- or 4-wire support. The configurable communications port on the remote display lets you add the power meter to an existing 4-wire RS-485 daisy-chain without a converter.

Customizable alarming • Factory configured alarms • Detect circuit overloading before the breaker trips • Quickly identify the source of a problem • Create custom alarms (PM820, PM850, PM870) • Combine up to four alarms using Boolean logic (PM850 and PM870) • Voltage/current disturbance alarms for sag/swell detection (PM870) The power meter’s alarm summary can help identify persistent alarm conditions that need attention. Alarms, stored in power meter memory and viewed in PowerLogic software, provide early warning of potential problems.

Advanced logging • Onboard memory for reliable collection of historical data: • PM850, PM870 - 800k standard • PM810 with logging module, PM820 - 80k standard • Factory default logging starts as soon as meter is powered up • Benefits of onboard data logging: • Reduce network traffic • Prevent gaps in data due to network or computer downtime Logged data can be downloaded to PowerLogic software for use in historical reports for capacity planning, energy trending, and more.

Advanced logging (continued) • On board data logs include: • Min/Max log—min/max value for each quantity since last reset • Custom data logs with up to 96 quantities each (One log – PM820 and PM810 with logging module; Three logs – PM850, PM870) • Billing log and Shift Energy table The power meter’s billing log can be uploaded and viewed in PowerLogic System Manager software. • Notes • Quantities logged are default values and are user-definable. • Daily and monthly PF and demand values represent the last value of the day or month.

  24. The power meter (PM850, PM870) measures power quality according to the EN50160 Power Quality standard. The EN50160 standard defines the voltage quality a customer can expect from the utility. Power quality monitoring (continued) The power meter generates alarms when an area of evaluation is outside of the range of acceptable values. The status (pass or fail) of each evaluation category can be viewed in a System Manager table.

Standard waveform capture (PM850) • Waveform Capture • Manual or Alarm initiation • 128 samples/cycle, 3 cycles • Waveforms give a graphical representation of what’s happening with your power during a particular moment. • Quickly isolate potential power problems. • Excellent for troubleshooting problems that occur continuously.

Disturbance detection and advanced waveform capture (PM870) • The PM870 has the ability to detect, alarm upon, and capture voltage and current sags and swells that can cause unwanted trips and process interruptions, damage motors and more. • Twelve factory configured voltage disturbance (sag/swell) alarms provide warning and trigger a disturbance waveform capture. • Disturbance alarms can be reconfigured for current sag and current swell using PowerLogic software. Voltage sags are often caused by heavy loads being started. The PM870’s disturbance detection features can help isolate the source of troublesome sags and swells.

Disturbance detection and advanced waveform capture (continued) • Advanced waveform capture (PM870) provides a detailed picture of the disturbance event • Configurable from 185 cycles on one channel at 16 samples/cycle up to 3 cycles on six channels at 128 samples/cycle Poor power quality can lead to costly downtime. A PM870’s disturbance waveform capture can provide the information needed to diagnose an event.

Trending and forecasting (PM850, PM870) • The power meter maintains onboard trends with historical values and forecast values to help predict future performance • Min/Max and Average data available for minutes, hours, days and months • Forecast for hours and days • Hourly and weekly summaries • Trend tables for typical values (e.g. Real Power, Current, Voltage) can be viewed in PowerLogic software • Since trend data is register-based, it is accessible by building automation and SCADA software The power meter’s onboard trend data with predicted values, can be viewed in PowerLogic software.

Easy to create a system... • Two ways to create a simple system: • RS485 connection to EGX400 Ethernet gateway to your PC • Ethernet connection from meter to local area network using PM8ECC option • With no special software to install, use your browser to view: • Instantaneous current, voltage, power and energy • I/O status • Alarm status and history • Trending and forecasting charts (PM850 or PM870) • EN50160 Evaluation (PM850 or PM870) • Use PowerLogic ION Enterprise or PowerLogic System Manager for more advanced analysis PC with Browser EGX400 Gateway Direct LAN connection to Ethernet port of meter Serial connection to RS485 port of meter
