Growing Into 1st Graders: As your student completes Kindergarten and begins 1st grade they should have the following concepts mastered: Counting 1-100 by memory Writing numbers 1-100 by memory Recognition of all letters and sounds from A-Z by memory An understanding of addition and subtraction, up to 5’s. Recognition of each coin in US money and how much it’s worth Memorization of high frequency words such as: can, it, the, to, he, she, up, a, I Reading on a level C (see attached for example)
