  1. Phase Six ALIGN your team as you stay the course of change

  2. The goal of change is to bring all the members of a group into alignment.

  3. It's not so much where we stand, as what direction are we moving. Sometimes we sail against the wind, sometimes we sail with it, but we must sail and not drift, nor lie at anchor

  4. Many change efforts fail because people give up too soon or because the leaders are not aware of how complex the change process is. Never give up the dream!

  5. The two great wheels of alignment

  6. Wheel #1 Encouragement Encouragment is the oil that keeps the machinery of change running

  7. When moving through radical change it's important that everyone have something familiar to hang on to.

  8. Don't underestimate the personal touch Take time to say "Thank You"

  9. Be known as a person who gives out more positives than negatives

  10. Wheel #2 TRUST Trust is the glue that keeps the team together

  11. Trust is non-negotiable in the world of change Change usually breeds suspicion, and without a conscious effort to build trust, you will fail to change things.

  12. Trustbusters • Lack of honesty • Denial of real problems • Half-truths • Breakdown of integrity

  13. Plans hatched in secret

  14. Self-serving decisions • Not involving people in the process • Making people-pleasing statements • Keeping important information from people

  15. Broken Promises

  16. It’s impossible to lead if people don’t trust. The accumulation of trust is a measure of the legitimacy of leadership.

  17. Trust breaks down through insufficient and inadequate spreading of information

  18. Get the moose on the table

  19. Integrity means more than not lying, cheating or stealing

  20. Integrity means you never hide the truth from those who need to hear

  21. The right to know is basic

  22. The future belongs to those who are willing to risk all in a process of good change
