  3. Vowel Digraph- Sound Spelling Patterns • EA = E • UI = I • OU= U • Head, Sweat, Wealth • Build, Guilt, Guild • Tough, Young, Touch • Notice that the vowel digraphs can represent short vowel sounds! Be careful when spelling!

  20. Workbook Pages 155-156 Sample Response: The judge gave each guest a “magical” stick. He explained that the guilty person’s stick would grow two inches. The judge knew that the guilty person would cut two inches off his or her stick to avoid being caught. Sample Response: An electric lamp could be used instead of a match and candle to fill the room with light. Sample Response: An old man who had three sons decided to leave his house and farm to his cleverest son. The old man created a test to determine which of his sons was the cleverest. The sons had to buy something that would fill an entire room.

  21. Sample Response: King Solomon had to pick out a real flower from hundreds of fake flowers. The king opened a window and a bee flew inside the room.
