Division of Tasks in Europe • Call for Proposals for ALMA Phase 2 Work Packages for front and back end electronics • CfP issued on 9 August 2002 to at least one institution in all ESO member states and Spain • Firm proposals requested for 10 Development Work Packages and expressions of interest requested for 13 Production Work Packages • Proposals for 12 Development WPs and 15 Production WPs received on 11 October 2002 European ALMA Board

Proposal Evaluation Status • Technical evaluation of development proposals completed • Technical review panels evaluated proposals and met with proposing teams at ESO • 4-6 November - front end panel(Blundell/Cunningham/Rudolf/Russell/Kooi/Tan) • 6-7 November - back end panel (Bachiller/Cernicharo/Girard/Hills/Sramek/Tofani) • Contractual clarifications and financial negotiations underway European ALMA Board
