North Carolina Back Office Operation What’s changing: Prior to taking the examination application is required to be made through NIPR All fees for the license application, fingerprinting and Pearson VUE processing fee must be paid NIPR will reserve a National Producer Number (NPN) for first time applicants at the time the application is submitted Applicants should maintain the NPN number in a safe place – it will be required at the time they make an exam reservation An authorization will be sent to Pearson VUE which will permit the candidate to test The Pearson VUE processing fee is $50 per application regardless of the number of lines of authority

NCDOI New License Process and VTS FIRST STEP after Pre-Licensing Education PRIOR to scheduling PVUE Exam – Complete License Application Online by visiting NIPR www.nipr.com and pay all licensing fees. NOTE: Applicant will also receive an e-mail from NIPR with a link to download fingerprint submission form and complete instructions for fingerprint submission if required. “YES” answers to any of the background questions will require additional documentation for review. Application contains a link to NIPR to upload documents for faster service. Candidates can also send USMAIL to NC Licensing Office for review. Page 14

  14. NIPR will create a file of applicants and send to Pearson via RTI (Real Time Import) PVUE will then send applicants an Authorization E-mail. NOTE: Applicants can not schedule exams until this is received. The email will contain: Client Candidate ID# which is a10 digit National Producer Number. Ex. 0000123456 Client Authorization ID# which is an Application number that NIPR has assigned to a license request. Ex. L123456789 Exam Series Name/Code – Name and code of the exam that the candidate is authorize to take. Six (6) month eligibility period – Start / End dates given – must pass exam in this period or re-apply on NIPR. Page 15

  15. SECOND STEP – SCHEDULING Call PVUE Reservation Specialists – provide information from Email Authorization to schedule & pay for approved exam. OR Create your own PVUE examination scheduling account at www.pearsonvue.com PVUE’s offers an updated login/password process with stricter security criteria. BENEFITS ON LINE Scheduling: Available 24/7 Registration is now a real time process. Candidate can update demographics Page 16

  16. SECOND STEP – SCHEDULING –cont. BENEFITS: cont. You will be able to check available days and times. Pay online with credit card to secure reservation. Changes to registration if needed. NOTE: Cancel policy is still controlled. Cancelling your exam within the 2 day window, exam fee is forfeited.

  17. THIRD STEP – PASSING THE EXAM Once an Applicant has passed his exam, passing notification will be sent to NAIC/SBS. NAIC/SBS will perform check against the Regulatory Information Retrieval System (RIRS) for regulatory issues related to the candidate. NAIC/SBS sends the file to NIPR NIPR will also notify the North Carolina Licensing Office of Pearson VUE when the passing score is matched to an license application. Page 18

  18. FOURTH STEP - LICENSING Applications are considered complete if they contain ALL of the required supporting documentation, fees, fingerprints submitted/reviewed, and a passing exam score. These candidates are approved for licensure if they meet license qualifications or referred to Agent Services Division if additional review for a licensing decision is required. FINAL STEP – Once the license application is approved, an email will be sent to the applicant with a congratulations message and that the license can be printed using SBS CONNECT after 24 hours.
