Capable of providing a correct reading or measurement: an accurate scale. • 4.   3. Precise • pre·cise  (pr-ss) • adj. • 1. Clearly expressed or delineated; definite: The victim gave a precise description of the suspect. • 2. Exact, as in performance, execution, or amount; accurate or correct: a precise measurement; a precise instrument. • 3. Strictly distinguished from others; very: at that precise moment. • 4. Distinct and correct in sound or meaning: precise pronunciation; precise prose. • 5.   5. Accurate means "capable of providing a correct reading or measurement." In physical science it means 'correct'. A measurement is accurate if it correctly reflects the size of the thing being measured.

  6. Precise means "exact, as in performance, execution, or amount. "In physical science it means "repeatable, reliable, getting the same measurement each time."

  8. We can never make a perfect measurement. The best we can do is to come as close as possible within the limitations of the measuring instruments.
