  2. 1 The need for solitude

  3. And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, he departed and went out to a desolate pace, and there he prayed. Mark 1:35 And he came out and went, as was his custom, to the Mount of Olives, and the disciples followed him… And he withdrew from them about a stone’s throw, and knelt down and prayed… Luke 22:39, 41 In these days he went out to the mountain to pray, and all night he continued in prayer to God. Luke 6:12 Immediately he made his disciples get into the boat and go before him to the other side, to Bethsaida, while he dismissed the crowd. And after he had taken leave of them, he went up on the mountain to pray. Mark 6:45-46 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. Matthew 4:1

  6. “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor, and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work…” Exodus 20:8-10 I thank God whom I serve, as did my ancestors, with a clear conscience, as I remember you constantly in my prayers night and day. 2 Timothy 1:3 When Daniel knew that the document had been signed, he went to his house where he had windows in his upper chamber open toward Jerusalem. He got down on his knees three times a day and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as he had done previously. Daniel 6:10 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up. And as was his custom, he went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and he stood up to read. Luke 4:16 And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. Acts 2:42 On the first day of the week, when we were gathered together to break bread… Acts 20:7 Then Moses said to the people, “Remember this day in which you came out of Egypt, out of the house of slavery… For with a strong hand the LORD has brought you out of Egypt. You shall therefore keep this statute at its appointed time from year to year.” Exodus 13:3, 9-10
