1. Application Performance Management SharePath is an Application Performance Management (APM) solution that gives you and your stakeholders the end-to-end visibility necessary to monitor and troubleshoot today’s most complex enterprise applications across all components, integration points, and shared services.

2. True Scientific Revolution I recognize every generation imagines its own shufflings to be unimagined leaps. In this case, perhaps, the conceit is justified. The science of recent decades has been deeply plagued by faulty and improperly-analyzed data. The most certain fix for this defect is well-organized, transparent, teamwork or collective action: “open-source science“. IPython, a fascinating project of research neuroscientist Fernando Pérez, already has a strong record of achievement in encouraging scientists and engineers to share not just their ideas, but details of data technique.

3. Measure the Real End-User Experience SharePath Real User Monitoring (RUM) Express provides a real-time view into the actual experience of your end-user, including availability, response times, and service levels. This free, enterprise-class software helps isolate problems and pinpoint bottlenecks in your data center, network, or online application.

4. Measurements and Techniques Real User Monitoring” has probably convinced you by now that application performance is both important and inadequate; so what do you do about it? Accurate measurement and identification of a problem is the first step, of course. When you’re ready for the second step, here are three quite different approaches you can apply with proven records for delivering both quick results, and enough depth to reward you for months to come.

5. Error-Handling a Fable in Code One of my favorite domains to review in existing applications, because it tends to be so error-ridden, is … error-handling. Too many programmers regard a language’s exception-handling syntax as a solution rather than just a mechanism, so error-handling tends to be misguided or at least neglected. A little more attention in this area often pays off with far greater end-user satisfaction.
