Guidance Notes: • No more than 30 words on a slide at no less than 36 pt font size • Make sure you introduce yourself at the start "Hello everyone, my name is... and today I am going to talk about..." • Involve the audience: if you are doing a popular topic or person, ask something like "Can you put your hands up if you've heard of..." • If you aren't, then introduce the topic and towards the end, ask a question or two to involve the audience, eg, "By a show of hands, how many of you agree with..." • Stay confident throughout. • Maintain eye contact throughout.. • Be enthusiastic. • Know your topic inside out. Know the contents of each slide and do not simply read from it - put cue words on each slide so that when you change it, you see the word and discuss the relevant issue. • It should last between 3-5 mins max. • Finally, make sure you do a practise run or two.
