  1. ERCOT Nodal Schedule Market Participant Workshop January 7, 2009

  2. Antitrust Admonition ANTITRUST ADMONITION ERCOT strictly prohibits Market Participants and their employees who are participating in ERCOT activities from using their participation in ERCOT activities as a forum for engaging in practices or communications that violate the antitrust laws. The ERCOT Board has approved guidelines for members of ERCOT Committees, Subcommittees and Working Groups to be reviewed and followed by each Market Participant attending ERCOT meetings. If you have not received a copy of these Guidelines, copies are available at the Client Relations desk. Please remember your ongoing obligation to comply with all applicable laws, including the antitrust laws.

  4. Workshop Goal Market Participants and ERCOT staff work together to identify additional Market Participant-facing activities and milestones that should be included in the ERCOT Nodal Schedule

  5. ERCOT Project Schedule Terminology • Project activity: • Description of work to be performed • Milestone: • End of a set of activities that marks the completion of a work package. Milestones have a zero-day duration. • Critical Path: • Sequence of integrated project activities that add up to the longest overall duration. This determines the shortest time possible to complete the project. Any delay of an activity on the critical path directly impacts the planned project completion date (i.e. there is no float on the critical path). • Market Participant Milestone View: • View of the Nodal schedule that includes those activities and milestones that are needed for MP schedule development • Note: Not all milestones are on the critical path – only those whose tasks have no float. The SEM Go-Live milestone is important, but it is not on the critical path. However, it needs to be included in the MP Milestone View.

  6. ERCOT Schedule Terminology – Environment & Activities

  7. ERCOT Schedule Assumptions • Market participant activities in EDS environment do not begin until there is a final validated network model across EMS/NMMS/MMS applications • ERCOT preserved previous critical path for MPs; EDS4 with approved sequence of 10.5 months prior to go-live • 7.5 months of testing prior to the 168-hour test • 1 month for 168-hour test • 2 months Go-Live sequence • Market participants continue to support required activities, including telemetry, network model, and other activities in 2009
