  2. Integumentary System • skIN is INtegumentary • Organs • Skin • 3 layers • Sweat and oil glands, nails, and hair • Functions • Protects body from injury, infection, and dehydration • Regulate body temp by either trapping heat or releasing heat through sweating

  3. Skeletal System • Organs • Bones and cartilage • Functions • Framework of body • Protects internal organs • Produces blood cells • Red Bone Marrow

  4. Nervous System • Organs • Brain, spinal cord, & nerves • Functions • Uses chemicals & electricity to send signals to the rest of the body. • Controls body‘s activities

  5. Respiratory System • Organs • Nose, pharynx, larynx, trachea, bronchi, lungs • Functions • Gets oxygen to blood • Get carbon dioxide away from blood

  6. Circulatory System • Organs • Heart, blood vessels, blood, and spleen • Functions • Carries oxygen and nutrientsto cells • Carries wasteaway from cells

  7. Digestive System • Organs • Mouth, salivary glands, pharynx, esophagus, stomach, intestine, liver, gallbladder, pancreas • Functions • Digests food chemically & physically • Small intestine absorbs nutrients • Eliminates waste

  8. Endocrine System (Hormones) • Girls CRINge when boys get hormones! • Organs • Pituitary, thyroid, parathyroid , adrenal (makes adrenaline) & thymus glands, pancreas, ovaries, and testes • Functions • Produces and secretes hormones to regulate EVERYTHING

  9. Immune System • Organs • Lymph nodes, lymph vessels, T-cells, White blood cells, Antibodies • Functions • Fight infection from viruses and bacteria

  10. Excretory System (Urinary System) • EXcretory EXits the body • Organs • “KUBU”: kidneys  ureter  bladder  urethra • Functions • Kidney filters blood to urine • Maintains fluid balance when thirsty
