Courthouse Security Training Multi-Use Courtroom Dilemna’s • Overcoming “it will never happen here” philosophy • Limited/ minimal amount of security personnel • Law enforcement not trained in courtroom security • Court staff not trained in critical incidents and security actions plans • No overall court security plan • Courtrooms that are multi-use (not designed for security) • No weapon screening • Limited funds available for security • No duress alarms

  6. Courthouse Security Training SCR 68.05 Security and Facilities Committee (w) Consideration of whether the committee can assist the municipal courts in its county in security matters. Municipal courts generally are not located in the county courthouse but convene in various public buildings. All courts share certain basic security concerns. If the committee is considering municipal court security or facilities the committee should consider appointing a municipal judge as a committee member.
