  2. What is the Median?? • The Median is the number that is in the middle of a group of numbers. • You will need this information for life! You need to find the median in a lot of things such as dates.

What do you have to do before you find the Median?? • Before you find the median you have to make sure that all the numbers are in order of “Least to Greatest” or “Greatest to Least.” • The reason for this is that if you didn’t have the numbers in order you would have the wrong median. • Why is that, what if all the numbers were 4 and 5. (4,4,4,4,5,4,5,5,5,5.) The numbers in the middle are 4 and 5 but 5 is before the 4. How would you find the median?

  4. Explanation • Why is that, what if all the numbers were 4 and 5. (4,4,4,4,5,4,5,5,5,5.) The numbers in the middle are 4 and 5 but 5 is before the 4. How would you find the median? YOU WOULDN’T!!!!!!!! You might think it could be 4.5 but that is impossible every answer would be impossible.

  5. Another example of Median. • Put these numbers in order…….. 1,3,2,3,5,4,5,7,6,8,7,9,8,0,9 • This is the way it should have been. • 0,1,2,3,3,4,5,5,6,7,7,8,8,2,2,9,9 • The median was 6

  6. Some reasons you need to know the median • Reason 1: You need median to figure out the things like dates. • Reason 2: You may need it to show peoples work if you own a business.
