How I Traveled • I traveled on the boat called the Grande Hermine in 1534-1536. • I also used the Petite Hermine from 1535 to 1536. • On my ships I had lots of charts, compasses, and almanacs. • The Grande Hermineweighed 60 tons, was 70 feet long, and 2,500 square feet. • The food on board included bread, beer, fish, and salted meat. • In my cabin I secretly had fresh meat and wine.
Interesting Facts About Me • Since I didn’t have any kids, my nephew tried to carry on my work but he failed. • I was friends with two Native American tribes. • I was sent to find gold and a passage to Asia, but I did not find either. • I crossed the Atlantic ocean in 20 days. • When I met the Native Americans they dressed like devils and told me not to go farther.
