  1. Mark 6:30-34

  2. Compassion For The Lost • “Moved with compassion for them.” • Compassion- “a sympathetic consciousness of the condition of others with a desire to alleviate it.”

  3. Compassion For The Lost • Christ had compassion on people in Various Circumstances- • Here – He felt compassion because people were in a lost condition • His heart ached for them

  4. Compassion For The Lost • Paul had great compassion & concern for the lost- • Acts 20:18,19 – “serving the Lord with all humility, with many tears and trials” • Romans 10:1-3 – “my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel”

  5. Do You Have Compassion on the Lost • 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9 • Do you realize that the Lost are Precious Souls who are Out of Fellowship with God & doomed to everlasting punishment because of Sin unless they come to Him in obedience

  6. THE TRUTH IS: • We won’t attempt to save the lost with Jesus unless we first feel compassion on them because of the seriousness of their condition

  7. Why Should We Have Compassion On Them? • Why did Jesus have compassion on them? • “they were as sheep not having a shepherd.” • Isaiah 53:6 “every one, to his own way” • He is the good Shepherd who came to seek the lost sheep- Luke 15:1-7; John 10:11

  8. Why Should We Have Compassion On Them? • Without His protection, they’re in great spiritual danger – 1 Peter 5:8 “your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” • Do We See What Christ Sees? • Need to be impressed with the seriousness of the condition of those who don’t have Christ to shepherd them to safety in eternity

  9. What Did Jesus Do? • “He began to teach them many things.” • Obedience to God is not limited to a few specific rules to follow • It takes a lifetime of effort to fulfill what God wants us to do

  10. What Did Jesus Do? • Notice what Jesus did NOT DO: • Didn’t entertain them • Didn’t try to lure with social attractions • Didn’t seek to wow them with a charismatic personality • He simply instructed them in what they needed to know • First and Foremost, Jesus was a Preacher: Matthew 4:17,23

  11. What Did Jesus Do? • He sent His followers into the world to preach the Gospel – • Mark 16:15,16 “preach the gospel to every creature” • That is what they did: • Acts 5:41,42 “teaching and preaching Jesus as the Christ” • Acts 8:4 “preaching the word” • 2 Timothy 2:2 “commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.”

  12. To Be Like Jesus We Must Teach The Gospel • 1 Peter 2:25 NKJV 25 “For you were like sheep going astray, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.” • Someone had compassion on us • We need to have the same goal as our Shepherd

  13. Are You As Compassionate As You Should Be?
