  4. 2013-2014 Coaching Staff • U-12 Travel Head Coach: Adele Savaria • Additional Coaching Staff: • Skip Merrick • Nicole Pelletier • Pat Revallier • Wes Powell – Part Time

  5. U-12 Travel Team Description • U-12 Travel – Year of birth 2002 & 2003 • 4 days per week – Wed., Thurs., Sat. and Sun. • Travel to North Series races – 3 travel weekends plus our home race – Monroe Cup. Kids will travel with parents. Coaches will take care of the racers at races. • Please stay out of the training and race arena while ski team is in session for safety reasons and focus by the athletes.

  6. Schedule: Winter (December - March) • Thanksgiving Camp – Nov. 23-27 – not mandatory. Cost is $500.00 to cover lift tickets, lane space and coaching fees. • December 4th – First day on snow for U-12 Travel (depending on snow conditions) • December 21st – January 5th : Christmas Camp • Jan. 11 - 12 – Jackson GS • Feb. 8 - 9 – McCall SL • Feb. 22 - 23 Sun Valley – SL/GS • Mar. 14 - 16 – Targhee - IMD Champs • Skills Quest Assessment–Date TBD in Mar.

Winter Training Schedule • Schedule is updated on the SVSEF website • www.svsef.org follow the U-12 Travel link and look for the training calendar. • We try to give advance notice if there is a change to the schedule. • Email is our best method for sending important updates. • Please check your email regularly during the winter season!!! • Go to svsef.org for continuing updates

  8. Skill Acquistion • Alpine technical skill acquisition will be a focus of the U-12 Travel team • Christmas Camp is critical to building the technical base for the season • Use of video and timing in training sessions for feedback • Athletes will receive written evaluations at the end of season (in April)

  9. Criteria for moving to the U-14 Team • Criteria for racers for the U-14 Team will be expected to attain the following skills: • Athletic Stance • Linking Turns • Solid, well-timed pole plant • Turn shape above the gate • Proper tucking technique • Controlled edge sets • Freeski all types of terrain • Attitude and level of maturity

Training Center Protocol • Each athlete will have a locker in the U-12 team area for personal equipment • No more than 1 pair of skis per athlete can be accommodated in the ski rack. • Bring your boots home to dry as often as necessary • All equipment, hard and soft gear should be kept in lockers or ski rack – anything left on the floor will be deemed “discarded”

  11. Training Center Protocol • Please help keep the ski team room clean. Put everything away – boots in lockers, clothes hung up, gloves/helmets in lockers and skis and poles in racks. All trash disposed of accordingly • Respect other’s belongings. Do not borrow items without asking. • Put your name on ALL equipment
