  2. Agenda • Use your agenda book (consistently) • Keep agenda book with you at all times • System for recording items in agenda

At school strategies • Keep agenda book open on desk during class. • Keep class materials organized (in order) and separate from other classes. • Seek extra help if necessary • Communicate with teachers (it’s your job – not your parents) • Check grades on X2 • If missing a class – must check in

  4. Homework • Have designated time • Manage your time • Have designated space • Space should be organized • Set some rules for homework • Use agenda book as guide

  5. Sample Notes :Ch 5 Section 1 • Read summary first; scan vocab words; then read chapter. • Taking notes • Skip lines between topics • Avoid complete sentences as far as topics (topics on left, notes on right) • Summarize in own words at bottom

  6. Studying Strategies • Study small amounts over a longer period of time • Quiz yourself (Fold paper, make flashcards) • Read your notes • Re-write your notes • Read selections from text • Ask some to quiz you
