  3. Location/ Gender/ Life Span • Immortal • Male • Capital: Mount Gundabad, Baraddûr, Orthanc • Base of Operations: Misty Mountains, Mordor, Isengard

  4. Languages • Orcshad no officiallanguage of their own, but spoke different forms of Orkishand Black Speech • Individual tribes developed different dialects • Could not communicate between tribes because dialects were so different

Physical Descriptions • Ugly and filthy fanged humanoids • Largest can reach near-human height, but are always shorter • Some are as small as Hobbits • “…They are squat, broad, flat-nosed, sallow-skinned, with wide mouths and slant eyes, in fact degraded and repulsive versions of the least lovely mongol-types” -Tolkein

  6. Creation/ History • Made from the earth • Of stone and slime • Uruk-hai: larger, more powerful, black skinned • Saruman’s Orcs: Orc-men (half-orcs), taller, more human-like proportions, could stand sunlight better

  7. Skills • They are a savage race that excels in war and battle

  8. Notable Characters • Azog • Orc chieftain who lived in Moria from about T.A. 2480 to 2799 • Common enemy of all the dwarves • Balcmeg • One of the Orcs killed in the Fall of Gondolin • Boldog • Formidable Orc-captain of a Host of Angband that is sent to attack Doriath and capture Luthien

Physical Appearance/ Gender/ Life Span • All are male, immortal • A small breed of Orcs that lived under Misty Mountain since the War of Wrath • Seen as slaves by larger Orcs • Similar to Orcs in appearance • Slightly smaller, sometimes hunched over or appearing to walk or run with limps • Have black blood

  11. Attributes/ Skills • Can see in total darkness • Crawl and climb with ease • Very capable of training animals as beasts of war and burden • EVIL!!!!! • Speak Orkish, Black Language

  12. Famous Goblins • The most famous Goblin- “The Great Goblin” • A leader who lived in the Misty Mountains during the Third Age • He was a very LARGE Goblin with a HUGE head (literally!!!) • He was slain by Gandalf
