  1. GOLF CART SAFETY “It is up to each of us to ensure we are aware of potential hazards of operating Golf Carts at a crowded Golf Tournament”

  2. INTRODUCTION The goal of this presentation is to identify proper safety procedures , as well as to promote and provide for a safer environment for those attending the 2014 Wells Fargo Championship.

  3. THE FACTS ABOUT GOLF CARTS • There are in excess of (250) golf carts operating at Quail Hollow Club during the week of the Wells Fargo Championship. • During a normal Saturday of Tournament Week, there are as many as 32,500 spectators in attendance. • Of the 210 acres that make up Quail Hollow Club, over 2/3 of the land is restricted to competition only.

  4. Golf Cart Safety • Spectators and Pedestrians always have the right-of-way. • When operating a golf cart around spectators, it is important to be patient. • It is important to remember that most carts are electric and do not make any sound when approaching pedestrians. 4. Make your presence known by announcing in a lower voice: “On your right” or “excuse me” before attempting to pass.

  5. Procedures Continued • When “shifting “ from forward to reverse, make sure the cart has come to a complete stop. • Report any cart mechanical issues (weak brakes etc…) to Cart Committee immediately. • Never try to push a disabled cart. These carts are not designed like a car, and injury can occur. • Texting while operating any cart is strictly prohibited and will result in confiscation! • Report anybody operating a cart in an unsafe manner to Cart Committee immediately.

  6. Areas Restricted to Carts 1. Driving Range (main road). Use #4 side to access bus drop area. 2. Area from #9 Green to #18 Green. Very Crowded! 3. #15 Green / #16 Tee. 4. Area between #2 green and #8 Tee (noise) All areas are very congested and should be avoided in a golf cart!

  7. General Safety Rules • 1. No Cart to be operated by intoxicated person • 2. Do not drive cart until all passengers are properly seated. • 3. Always drive straight up and down steep hills. • 4. Avoid making sudden or sharp turns. • 5. Never stand up in a moving cart.

  8. General Safety Rules • 6. Drive with caution during periods when grass is wet. • 7. Remove keys from unattended carts. • 8. Before driving cart, ensure cart is in forward/reverse

  9. CONCLUSION • Cart use at The Wells Fargo Championship is a privilege and may be revoked at anytime by Tournament staff (only). • Unsafe cart operation will NOT be tolerated. • Abuse of golf carts will NOT be tolerated. • Defacing golf carts with non-Tournament issued signage will NOT be tolerated. • Transferring cart plaque signs from one cart to another will NOT be tolerated. • Driving a cart off Quail Hollow Property will NOT be tolerated. • Tournament insurance does not cover giving spectators a “lift”, so please do not offer rides. • Texting while operating will not be tolorated!
