Cadet Aviation Program • Powered flying has been a major part of Air Cadets since start • Gliding program began in 1965, now largest glider training program in the world • Air Cadet League owns and insures 65 gliders and 30 tow planes • Over 22 000 junior cadets participate in familiarization flying in spring and fall • Every summer, over 500 senior cadets get a Glider Pilot Licence (GPL) or Private Pilot Licence (PPL) through cadet program • Average of 55 000 glider flights a year in Air Cadet SGS 2-33 gliders

Glider Physical Limits • Limits are due to SGS 2-33 weight and balance limitations and cockpit size • Cadets not meeting limits will result in them being RTU’d (Returned to Unit)
PGS Information • Units: • Theory of Flight • Air Law • Meteorology • Navigation/Radio/Airmanship • Quizzes/homework done during each unit • Tests at the end of each unit, done at beginning of class (6:30 pm) • PGS Exam in December and practice exams afterwards for applicants
PGS Information • Will require: From the Ground Up – 29th Edition ($60)
