  3. What is it?? Cumulus is a centrally based digital asset management system. It enables a large number of people to access, modify, and manage a group of digital assets (computer files) from a central location. • Or, simply stated… Cumulus stores digital photos in a central location, allowing users to access and modify them while maintaining a single central library.

  4. Why do we use it?? 1). Organization • Before Cumulus, the Collaboratory owned thousands of digital photos stored across several workstations. Photos were hard to find when needed. 2). Redundancy • Before Cumulus, the Collaboratory’s multiple libraries of digital photos were at risk. A single workstation failure might wipe out years worth of digital photos. 3). Accessibility • Before Cumulus, the Collaboratory’s digital photos were only accessible from designated workstations.

  5. Today’s Cumulus • Over 14,000 digital photos organized • By Project • By Group • By People • By Site Team • Each with a (Best Photos) sub-category, containing marketable digital photos for quick lookup. • Who we are….What we do….Who we partner with • Multiple layers of redundancy, provided by Messiah College ITS. We will never lose a valued digital photo! • Accessible through any workstation on campus via the software client . • Accessible through any workstation in the WORLD via the web client.
