This research investigates the educational potential of digital gaming technologies by establishing a dedicated student research group focused on gaming. Initial student surveys assessed gaming habits, followed by weekly trial sessions of digital games. Data collection methods included taped focus group interviews, observations, and photographic documentation of gaming environments. Insights reveal that while gaming is enjoyable, it also facilitates learning through experiential feedback. Participants highlighted the value of learning from mistakes—a key aspect that enhances retention and application in subsequent game rounds.

“ It’s like, when you’re playing it’s fun but you can learn things from it and it’s not just a game. Say like if you have a certain amount of lives in the game, if you die in that round, you learn from your mistakes from that round and you go and make it better in the next round.”MA (Research student)
