  1. All You Need to Know About Plastic Extrusion Welders Extrusion welding is a process for welding composites and thermoplastics. It was derived from hot gas welding, and it can either be done manually or automatically using specially designed equipment, such as the plastic extrusion welder. The machine makes it simpler to fabricate thick-section pipes and tanks, and it is versatile for producing homogeneous, high-volume seams in one pass. Those things may be impossible to do with traditional hot gas welding, requiring multiple runs to create a single seam. The plastic extrusion welder comes in different sizes. It can be compact with a built-in air supply, or large and heavy machines for more demanding applications, such as welding lining material for landfills. You can get the machine in different configurations, such as 110v and 240v. Historically, extrusion welding was used mainly for joining HDPE and PP. Modern welders are now capable of welding PVDF and PVC. For use on PVC, the extruder must be purged with a PE or PP weld rod to avoid leaving the barrel’s degraded material. Manufacturers have designed high-quality plastic extrusion welder to make accurately define specific parameters, which are likely to affect the quality of the weld. These parameters include the quantity of the hot gas, the welding material’s hot flow rate and temperature, and the hot gas temperature for substrate pre-heat. Welding speed depends on the extrudate or welding material’s flow rate, thickness, the design and size of the PTFE welding shoe, and the cross-sectional part of the seam. For tank fabrication, the plastic extrusion welder can be practical for welding tops and bases. In some applications, it may be used to create the body panels, too. Where manual welding techniques are necessary to fabricate large section pipes, extrusion welding can replace them. In some cases, the device may be used for environmental construction, particularly in joining a lining material for building landfill waste sites, roof coverings, and lagoons. The welder is also being utilized widely in water engineering and agriculture, like making manways, land drainage systems, and sump tanks.
