Welding Safety • Always wear a welding helmet • Wear welding gloves, and protective clothing • Don’t stand in water • Make sure no one can see your arc
MIG welding • Most widely used welding procedure and probably easiest to learn. • Materials needed are the wire, ground, and welder besides the metal • Make a bead with a half moon pattern
Stick Welding • Basic welding process, and easy to master • Generally used for thicker metal • Push electrode into where you want to weld • Also known as arc welding • Materials needed are a ground, electrode (stick), welder, and metal
Oxyacetylene welding • One of the first welding techniques used • Used by heating and melting a rod into where you want to weld with an oxyacetylene torch
Plasma cutting • Used to cut steel or other metal with a plasma torch • Inert gas is blown out of the torch at high pressure, and an electrical arc is formed, making plasma out of the gas and cutting the metal
Oxyacetylene Cutting • Used by heating the metal red hot, then putting oxygen into the metal, making iron oxide and producing more heat, thus cutting the metal • Need a oxyacetylene cutting torch head and tanks
