Inclusive Sport Liverpool – The Current Picture • 44,000 people claiming DLA • 48,000 people in a caring role • Estimated 8000 with a learning disability, 5000 deaf or hard of hearing, 3000 blind or partially sighted • 10.2% of disabled adults achieve 3x30 compared to 23.5% of non disabled adults • 9.7% of all adults achieve 5x30 • 77.4% of disabled adults doing no sport or physical activity compared to 46.1% of non disabled adults • 24.1% of adults are obese (approx. 84,000 people) • Approx. 1500 Lifestyles members indicate a disability • Inclusive Clubs / Programmes are mainly delivered through non-sporting organisations within the third sector

Inclusive Sport Liverpool – The Opportunity • Aims of project - engage 600 adults, within one (or more) of the 3 targeted impairment groups, in weekly physical activity and support 525 of them to commence a pathway to lifelong participation • - Increase the physical activity levels of carers by offering free and subsidised membership of leisure centres • Achieve the benefits of increasing the numbers of physically active people • Achieve benefits to physical activity providers and facilities
