System Layout Air intake Motherboard Disc Drive Power Supply Fans
Heat Dissipation • Whisper fan connects to stock fan input • Forces air directly through GPU and CPU heat sinks • Added heat sinks on Southbridge and scaler chips
Two fans will be required to properly ventilate the case • Wanted to connect stock fan via USB, but it only provides 5V power • Would be necessary to use a USB fan • Located .pdf file which has detailed specifications of many headers (connections) on the motherboard • Auxiliary power header J7G1 will be utilized to power the stock fan +12V DC Ground
Power • Power supply is bulky • Current version of xbox has a power supply half this size • Power connector is large and rigid • Wire directly to motherboard Ground +12V DC Reference +5V DC
Case had to be modified • Sides were removed • Allows connections to underside of board • Allows more airflow • Reduced size • 3-outlet extension cord will be the only cord leaving the case • Provides power to Xbox power supply, monitor, and speakers
Audio and Video Video cable with casing removed • Want to be able to display video externally without changing cables inside the case • Component video cord can toggle between SD and HD modes • Exploit this feature to display HD on our monitor and SD on RCA jacks • Newer Xbox 360’s have a built in HDMI port, so our theoretical design will use this to provide HD video externally
ON the Agenda: • Determine specifications of “Xbox 360 slim” for use in our theoretical product design • Determine ideal monitor, speakers, etc. for theoretical design • Choose best method to secure components inside case • Determine how to keep the case open at the proper angle • Choose a glass substitute to protect the electronic components of the MAX • Update website with current progress
