On August 29, 2012, our team took a trip to August Town to assess community needs and project status. We focused on leadership, community dynamics, and the importance of collaboration in understanding family strengths and challenges. Despite some hurdles, such as finding male single parents for representation, our group remains cohesive. We utilized various assessment techniques and engaged in informative discussions. Looking ahead, we aim to revisit the community for further data collection and to strengthen our outreach efforts through the Women’s Action Group.

October 29, 2012 • Hey guys, I bet you were all expecting to see some looooooong paragraphs. We decided to switch things up and just give you a brief slideshow about our trip on August 29, 2012 and also a bit on the status of our project. • Some photos may be funny, but do enjoy.
All listening keenly as Mr. Wilson briefs us about the community
What has been learned? • Importance of a vision and leadership • Always have your contacts • A community assessment enables collaborative partners to gather information about the strengths, concerns, and conditions of children, families, and the community. • Techniques for gathering assessment information : focus groups, community forums, interviews and surveys, and action research • Small-group approach helps families feel comfortable sharing their concerns.
Challenges in the project • Finding a male single parent to show a balance of single parenting • Women's Action Group Meetings are held every 1st and 3rd Wednesday at 6:00pm of each month, but no one to accompany the group.
Outstanding areas thus far • Cohesiveness of the group and the participation of its members. • Participation and co-operation of our target group. • Blog Spot Updates • Progress in the compilation of the project - Adequate photos and audio
Future plans to complete the project • Leads back to our challenges • Getting access to a male single parent • Visit the Action group meeting to which we were invited to. • Plans are to revisit the community one more time to contact these persons to complete the project.
