  2. Hard Knock Life . . . • Inflation, Inflation, Inflation • Money is printed by each state • Counterfeiting is at all time high • Soldiers from revolution have not been paid

Hard Knock Life . . . • Shays Rebellion • Soldiers of the Revolution came home to find families dead or destitute, the states that begged them to go to war never paid them, and now have foreclosed their properties for non-payment of taxes. • Daniel Shay and band of patriots take matters in to their own hands in Massachusetts

Weaknesses No power to make war/peace Couldn’t send and receive Ambassadors Couldn’t make treaties Couldn’t borrow money Couldn’t setup a monetary system Couldn’t build a navy No Post Offices and Roads Had to ask states for troops No uniformed standard of weights and measures Couldn’t settle disputes b/w States Our 1st ConstitutionThe Articles of Confederation
