Amazon Rainforest • Covers most of the northern part of Peru and the eastern part of the country • There is a push towards conservation of the land • 70,000 sq km of the Peruvian Amazon has been deforested • 5% of the land is currently protected though National Forests, parks, reserves and sanctuaries • Eco-tourism has also helped the cause to save the rainforest areas • Today there are many rainforest areas that people can come and visit and be educated on the animals and land there
