A web-based platform which requires no additional software Requires Internet Explorer version 6 or later and internet access Helps pharmacy contractors provide services more effectively Allows commissioners to audit and manage these services Supported by independent, CCA and AIMp contractors What is PharmaBase?

PharmaBase is compliant with the Data Protection Act Pharmacy contractor remains ‘data owner’ Health Information Exchange and its selected IT service providers are ‘data processors’ No patient identifiable data will be accessed or used by anyone other than the appropriate data owner or authorised and monitored system support staff undertaking system maintenance Security processes and controls are fully compatible with the NHS Information Governance framework for 3rd Party providers to the NHS Information Governance

PharmaBase Option 1 • Provides all contractors with an electronic version of PSNC’s Contract Workbook which will integrate with the Community Pharmacy Assurance Framework (CPAF) to demonstrate contract readiness • Enables contractors to record consultations and service delivery – currently EHC & supervised consumption modules • Automatically produces monthly invoices for submission to PCTs • Automatically produces monthly audit reports for submission to PCTs • Launch of Version 1 is funded by a hypothecated levy (a sum collected for a specific purpose) charged to LPCs • Option 1 is free of charge to commissioners

Benefits of Option 1 Consistent assessment of contract compliance and clear reporting to the commissioner via the CPAF pre-visit questionnaire Consistent and clear monthly reports produced in printable pdf format which can be posted or emailed to the PCT Legible – no more handwritten submissions Accurate – service fee set centrally so no more incorrect calculations of claims

Option 2 PCT will be provided with a dedicated portal into the PharmaBase data Consolidated report of all CPAF questionnaires Consolidated invoicing for services delivered Consolidated audit report for all services delivered All reports will be provided in an electronic format to suit commissioners needs.

Benefits of Option 2 The consolidated CPAF report facilitates rapid assessment of contract readiness to enable prioritisation of inspection visits The consolidated service invoice is automatically submitted on the 6th day of the month – so no more late claims The consolidated invoice and audit reports enable easy import of data into local management and finance systems, saving administrative time, removing the need for re-keying and eliminating transcription errors
