  1. NIMA Products and Services for USMC Aviation Units The majority of aeronautical information and geospatial services and products used by aircrews are produced by NIMA. These products and services are primarily distributed by the Defense Logistics Agency. There is no charge to Military or DoD customers for these products. Mapping and Imagery products are ordered through supply per ALMAR 039-98. Some are provided direct to the user by NIMA. Additionally, a number of the products are available via the unclassified and classified web. This reference provides information about important services and products you may need. Unclassified - For Official Use Only • Aviation Specific Products • Flight Information Publications (FLIP) • FLIPs are provided as a service by NIMA to all DoD aircrews. This includes standard DoD flip products and non-standard DoD FLIP products, like FAA or UK products. Refer to the NIMA catalog titled “part 1-Aeronautical Products vol 1,” NIMA Reference Number CATP1V01, NSN 7641-01-410-3080, for the listing of available products and the procedures for ordering or establishing a subscription account. These instructions can be found under section D, ordering procedures for special products. This section also lists the flip account managers to provide assistance and validate the subscription requirements. The “Aerospace Bulletin Digest” updates the information in the catalog. Its NIMA reference number is CATP1UBD, NSN 7641-01-410-0193. • Unclassified Web pages for Aeronautical Information • DLA: www.DSCR.DLA.mil/PC9/Aero/aero.htm (home page WWW.DSCR.DLA.MIL/PC9/) This site provides current FLIP information. • NIMA: http://164.214.2.62/products/digitalaero/index.html This site provides downloads of various FLIP products like planning documents and en route supplements and also has links to the DAFIF and ECHUM download pages. • ECHUM – (Electronic chart updating manual) ECHUM is available on the web at:http://www2.NIMA.mil/products/webchum/index.cfm. • Escape and Evasion charts • Evasion charts (EVC): are a a special map or chart designed as an evasion aid. The charts available are listed in NIMA catalog “part 1-Aeronautical Products vol 1,” NIMA Reference Number CATP1V01, NSN 7641-01-410-3080 • Geospatial Products of Interest to Aviators • Compressed ARC Digital Raster Graphics (CADRG): This is the digital image of the aeronautical charts used by mission planning systems. The listing of the available CADRG on CD is provided in the digital bulletin digest, NIMA reference number CATP7QB, NSN 7643-01-429-6984. If you use a mission planning system for flight planning you should be automatic distribution for these CD’s through DLA. Order a complete set (about 90 CD’s) or only the CD’s covering your units AOR. A new edition of these CD’s are normally issued once a year. Until then, NIMA provides a monthly update called the CADRG supplemental disk. This provides frame file updates to the charts contained on the original CADRG CDs and provides new charts not on the original CDs. If your are using a mission planning system you should be on automatic distribution for both products. NOTE: ADRG is a digital image of charts that have not been compressed. There is one chart per ADRG CD. Falconview can only read CADRG Data. • CADRG (Compressed ARC digitized raster graphic), NIMA reference number CDRGXALL contains hardcopy maps over an area scanned and written to CD. The majority of the maps will be 1:250,000 to 1:1,000,000 scale. 1:50 and 1:100 map coverage is not present in all areas. If a map is not originally WGS84, maps on CADRG CDs are converted to WGS84 when they are produced, although the grid lines will reflect the maps original datum. • CADRG update – NIMA reference number CDRGAUPD NSN 7644014545188. This product is produced monthly and provides the latest updates. The only way to receive this product is to be on automatic distribution. ECHUM files are included as well. • DAFIF – (Digital Aeronautical Flight Information file) NIMA reference number DAFIF - PLANXCDDAFIF1. DAFIF updates all GPS waypoints, navaids, airfields, heliports, airways, military training routes, airspace boundaries, special use airspace, and air refueling tracks every 28 days. This info is important for flight in GPS airspace, and will become more important during the transition to GPS approach and departure procedures. Also on DAFIF are the area planning, general planning, enroute supplement, and flight information handbooks in PDF format. • DTED– (digital terrain elevation data) NIMA reference number for DTED 1 and 2 - TCDXXALL this product provides a general elevation surface to be used for fly-thru generation, line of sight, perspective scene and 3d visualization. It is a series of latitude, longitude and elevation readings regularly spaced intervals, 100m for DTED1 and 30m for DTED2. To see DTED available visit http://www.Dscr.DLA.Mil/pc9/digital/DTED.Htm the individual NSN’s for DTED1 should be used if only DTED1 is needed rather than TDCXXALL. More information about DTED is available at (www.nima.mil/geotimes under reference material/DTED.) • CIB5 – (Controlled Image base) this product is national satellite imagery processed so the resolution is reduced to approximately 5m. This product is unclassified, limited distribution. It can be used on data display systems to substitute for a 1:50 or 1:100 map product when none is available. A complete set of this product would be over 300 cd’s so units should order only areas of interest. To see the CIB5 available over your area of interest see page 147 of CATP7QB. Spreadsheets showing existing CIB data and stock numbers for ordering the product from DLA are available from members of NIMA’s customer support teams. • AAFIF – (Automated Air Facilitates Information File, Airfield data) this product provides information about airfields - everything "inside the fence" -- runways, aprons, hangars, fuel storage, etc. Users can query and print unclassified formatted reports as well as printing unclassified graphics of airfield layouts with annotations keyed to the database. This product is distributed directly by NIMA. To get on distribution the AAFIF Program Manager, DSN 693-4806, COM 314-263-4806, E-Mail:quality@nima.mil. AAFIF is also available for download on SIPRNET and JDISS. A 1 page reference sheet describing how to use AAFIF on CD as well as on secure systems is at the NIMA liaison to USMC www page at http:// www.nima.mil/geotimes under reference materials.

  2. Unclassified - For Official Use Only NIMA Products and Services for USMC Aviation Units Ordering NIMA Products NIMA products are ordered through USMC supply. DLA also supports ordering online on their website http://www.dscr.DLA.mil/pc9/G_info/web_intro.htm An illustrated, detailed reference about ordering NIMA products is at http://www.nima.mil/geotimes under reference materials. A complete list of catalogs is on DLA’s website at: http://www.dscr.DLA.mil/pc9/CATALOG.htmDLA’s softcopy version of all the catalogs is on CD: NIMA Ref. No. CATCDLIMDIS NSN 7644-01-478-4783. Some catalogs may be out of stock until the digital version is in place. Call Customer Service Office at 1-800-826-0342 for more information. Automatic Distribution This ensures new copies of products you select are sent to your unit each time they come out. To get on automatic distribution, make an initial order through unit central supply for the complete set of the needed products. Units that deploy frequently should be on automatic distribution directly, rather than having their products sent to their higher headquarters.  These products can be ordered by the NIMA numbers rather than the NSN. Instead of using A0A as your document identifier code, use A0D (A)D-requisition for domestic (CONUS) shipment / with part number) or AO4 (A04- requisition for overseas (OCONUS) shipment / with part number. In this case the NIMA reference number (NRN) is the part. Rules for the document identifier code (DIC) can be found on the DLA mapping facility website at: http://www.dscr.DLA.mil/pc9/ordering/milstrip_base.htm More information on the rules can be viewed by clicking “DIC" on the menu. Automatic distribution will provide updates to a product, but not its initial issue, onece the initial order is made, request automatic distribution requirements by FAX containing the unit DODACC number to DSN 695-6545 or commercial 804-279-6545. Download a sample form at: http://www.dscr.dla.mil/pc9Newsroom/AD%20Letter.htm Note: this form can also be used to add or delete items or change the quantity of products on automatic distribution. Make the request to the attention of the subscription department.. The initial request is not made to DLA, only the automatic distribution request. Falconview/PFPS All Navy/Marine Corps squadrons are on the distribution list for N-PFPS. Any aviator in a squadron should first execute a search of squadron spaces for the latest disk. They can order a replacement /additional CD by sending an e-mail request to n-pfps@spawar.navy.mil. Include the command mailing address in the request. Aviators in units other than squadrons can start with the e-mail request, although MAGs, MAWs, and MEUs are on the mailing list. Aviation units should not be using the NIMA version of Falconview, NIMA stock number: SFTWRFAL CONVIEW ed 311, NSN 7644014792118, for route planning. This version is only for data display, so all route functionality has been removed. Foreign Clearance Guide NIMA no longer prints the foreign clearance guide (FCG), However DLA still distributes it. The USAF is the DoD executive agent for its production. It can found at http://www.fcg.pentagon.mil/. Additional distribution instructions are in chapter two. Training issues If your unit needs training in the use of NIMA products, and related issues such as grids, datums and datum conversions contact the Defense Mapping School Operations Office at com: 703-805-2237 DSN: 655-2237 http://www.NIMA.Mil/nimc/dms/. They offer free classes at their facility at Ft. Belvoir VA in addition to providing mobile training teams that will travel to customer sites at NIMA’s expense. Training can be tailored to the needs of the specific unit. Datum Conversions NIMA provides the DoD approved software for datum conversions at: http://164.214.2.59/GandG/geotrans/geotrans.html USGS products NIMA purchases USGS products to provide coverage of the United States not covered by NIMA, such as areas outside of military bases and provides them at no charge to military customers. Be advised that the quality and quantity of mapping products available in the US and other ‘first world’ countries aren’t available in a less industrialized countries. Make sure your unit allows the use of USGS products for exercises. Visit the USGS website and obtain the stock numbers of the products you need. Contact your customer support team if you need USGS products.
