  2. Theme Passage I Peter 2 9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

  3. Out of darkness, but back into the darkness… “When you are in the dark, it does not take much light for there to be light. Darkness is broken even when only one ray of light, small & gentle, shines into the blackness”

  4. Out of darkness, but back into the darkness… Eph 6 10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord & in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

  5. Out of darkness, but back into the darkness… Eph 6 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh & blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

  6. Out of darkness, but back into the darkness… Eph 6 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, & having done all, to stand.

  7. Out of darkness, but back into the darkness… The Christian life is not lived in a vacuum, it is lived in the world- in all of its’ strife, pain, sin & darkness. We cannot grow in Christ, minister like Christ or impact the world for Christ without understanding the struggle we are in against the darkness.

  8. Shining the light in me… Gal 5 16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, & you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

  9. Shining the light in me… Gal 5 17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, & the Spirit against the flesh; & these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish.

  10. Shining the light in me… The darkness in us, the sinful nature of our flesh & the presence of our enemy the devil, is a darkness that we must battle.

  11. Shining the light in me… God has called us to “be” light, & the indwelling of the Holy Spirit can overcome the darkness & allow us to be that.

  12. Shining the light in me… Rom 7 22 For in my inner being I delight in God's law; 23 but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind & making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members. NIV

  14. Shining the light in me… I John 4 4 You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.

  15. Shining the light in me… Even with the presence of the Holy Spirit in me.. Do I find excuses why the darkness keeps me in sin or fear? Am I battling the darkness in me believing the presence of God in me is greater?

  16. Shining the Light in Our World… Matt 5 14 You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.

  17. Shining the Light in Our World… The darkness around us should be a contrast to the light shining through us.

  18. Shining the Light in Our World… God does not intend for us to leave the world in darkness, but to dispel the darkness (of lostness, pain, need, etc.) by being light (love, truth, grace, compassion) just like Jesus did when He walked the Earth.

  22. Shining the Light in Our World… The power of the light… I John 3 8 …For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.

  23. Shining the Light in Our World… The power of the light… Matt 5 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works & glorify your Father in heaven.

  24. Shining the Light in Our World… Am I going to battle the darkness or leave the world, and all those in it, to suffer from the darkness?
