He was Born in Virginia August 1, 1770. and died September 1, 1838 (aged 68 Meriwether Lewis was born August 18, 1774 and was a explorer, soldier and a, politician he died October 11, 1809 (aged 35) Signature Signature

  4. Goals Lewis and Clark had goals on there expedition • Map the rivers • Make friends with the native Americans • Open the west to trade • Find new animal and plant species • Find a northwest passage ( a rout across north America)

  6. Route of exploration the expedition started in ST Louis and traveled up the Missouri River. They crossed the Rocky Mountains. They traveled down the Columbia River to the Pacific Ocean.

Animals from the expedition Black Tailed Prairie Dog Northern Spotted Owl Lewis and Clark also discovered the Northern Spotted Owl they nest in trunk cavities they lay 2-3 eggs Lewis and Clark discovered the black tailed prairie dog they are tan and have black tips on there tails they are native to grasslands

  13. Conclusion The Lewis and Clark expedition is an important part of U.S history that will never be forgotten The Lewis and Clark Expedition was important to U.S history because it helped discover new plant and animal species and help create the first maps of the west
