The Manchester Fire and Mental Health Liaison Project aims to address the alarming fact that over one-third of individuals who died in fires were known to mental health services. By integrating occupational therapy with fire safety, the project adopts a holistic approach that emphasizes the connections between mental health, fire risk, and environmental factors. Through partnership working with health trusts and fire services, the project facilitates risk assessments, home safety checks, and targeted interventions to reduce fire incidents, demonstrating significant success in preventing further tragedies.
