  3. Main Idea • Specialized cells function together in tissues, organs, organ systems, and the whole organism. • Scientists have organized multicellular structures into five levels based on complexity

  4. 1) Cells: Organisms are made up of specialized cells that each have a particular structure that enables it to perform a specific task Exs: • Red blood cell- delivers oxygen to all tissues • Nerve cell- provides a pathway for electrochemical nerve impulses

  7. 4. Organ systems: two or more organs working together to perform a function • Perform the most complex activities in the body Ex: Respiratory system- lungs, sinuses, nasal passage, pharynx, larynx
