In your group: • Discuss when we have used these three success strategies in the school setting. • Next, select one success strategy and tell your group members when you used that strategy and how it helped you. You can discuss how you used the strategy at home or at school. • Finally, report out to the class.

  5. My Quick Write Sam Hairston was able to achieve his goals by using 3 success strategies. Staying focused has been important in my life. I remember ever since I was a young girl all I wanted to do was teach. I would annoy my siblings with playing school and when they didn’t want to play school, I would have imaginary students and a clipboard to take attendance. Of course everyone was always present!

Individual Work –Your Quick Write • Think about the 3 success strategies. • Choose 1 to write about. • In a Quick Write, state the strategy and explain how you have used the strategy in the past to reach a goal. Use at least one of the vocabulary words we just discussed. • Be prepared to share your Quick Write when the player visits our classroom.
