  1. Somebody Is Coming… Follow His Dots! (21 STORIES) Isaiah 53

  2. Isaiah 53 1 Who has believed our message? To whom has the Lord revealed his powerful arm? 2 My servant grew up in the Lord’s presence like a tender green shoot, like a root in dry ground. There was nothing beautiful or majestic about his appearance, nothing to attract us to him.

  3. Isaiah 53 3 He was despised and rejected— a man of sorrows, acquainted with deepest grief. We turned our backs on him and looked the other way. He was despised, and we did not care. 4 Yet it was our weaknesses he carried; it was our sorrows that weighed him down. And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God, a punishment for his own sins!

  4. Isaiah 53 5 But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed. 6 All of us, like sheep, have strayed away. We have left God’s paths to follow our own. Yet the Lord laid on him the sins of us all.

  5. Isaiah 53 7 He was oppressed and treated harshly, yet he never said a word. He was led like a lamb to the slaughter. And as a sheep is silent before the shearers, he did not open his mouth. 8 Unjustly condemned, he was led away. No one cared that he died without descendants, that his life was cut short in midstream. But he was struck down for the rebellion of my people.

  6. Isaiah 53 9 He had done no wrong and had never deceived anyone. But he was buried like a criminal; he was put in a rich man’s grave. 10 But it was the Lord’s good plan to crush him and cause him grief. Yet when his life is made an offering for sin, he will have many descendants. He will enjoy a long life, and the Lord’s good plan will prosper in his hands.

  7. Isaiah 53 11 When he sees all that is accomplished by his anguish, he will be satisfied. And because of his experience, my righteous servant will make it possible for many to be counted righteous, for he will bear all their sins. 12 I will give him the honors of a victorious soldier, because he exposed himself to death. He was counted among the rebels. He bore the sins of many and interceded for rebels.

  8. TAKE HOME • All of those hundreds of Old Testament stories are the tiles in the Jesus Story mosaic. • Those prophecies and their fulfillment line up like fence posts...including their fulfillment. • Prophecies make the most sense when viewed from this side of the Empty Grave and the Old Rugged Cross.

  9. FROM THIS SIDE OF THE CROSS THE DOTS MAKE A BEE LINE TO JESUS • Start with his birthplace…it was prophesied. Micah 5:2 • Time spent in Egypt…foretold by Hosea 11:1 • Rejected by his own folk…Isaiah 53 • The grave couldn’t hold him…David saw it centuries before Jesus rose. Psalm 16:10 • Over 300 Dots…prophecies telling of his birth, life, death, resurrection. John 5:39

  10. INKLINGS OF THE GOSPEL ACTS AND FACTS HAPPENED THOUSANDS OF YEARS BEFORE THE CROSS • Isaac’s close call on Mount Moriah…and a ram taking his place. • Passover…now we can clearly see it as a precursor of Jesus’ redemptive work. I Corinthians 5:7 • A watery grave in the desert…’baptized in the sea’ I Corinthians 10:1-4 • The whole system of sacrifice…”It should have been me!” Leviticus 1:3,4

  11. MANY PROPHECIES ONLY MAKE SENSE WHEN LOOKING OVER OUR SHOULDER • Many people were born in Bethlehem. Many were ordinary-looking. There were plenty of descendants of David. Execution by crucifixion was not unique to Jesus. • But who fulfilled all of those fore-tellings?

  12. MANY PROPHECIES ONLY MAKE SENSE WHEN LOOKING OVER OUR SHOULDER • Isaiah’s words only made sense when someone like Peter stood on this side of the cross and the empty tomb…and saw the cord that tied those major events to a ton of prophets promising the how, when, who and why of the saga. • God chose him as your ransom long before the world began, but he has now revealed him to you in these last days. I Peter 1:20

  13. ALL OF THOSE FORETELLINGS… AND THEIR AMAZING FULFILLMENTS… AND THE LOVE THEY PORTRAY… • Should have us falling our knees and crying “Holy”! • The cross…should have been mine. Isaiah 53:4-6 • Can I begin to fathom the over-arching plan, love and call of God? Revelation 13:8 • Am I ready to ask: Men and brothers, what shall I do? Acts 2:37,38

  14. I believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God.I trust Him as my Lord and Savior. Confession
