About Us • Ricky Tejada – General Manager of RM Brokerage since its inception in 2006 • Active member of the VA Recycling Association and C&D Recycling Committee • Annually, we currently recycle: • ~ 13 million lbs of carpet; • ~ 4.5 million lbs of carpet padding; and • ~ 1.5 million lbs of ceiling tile per year. • We collect on behalf of municipalities, manufacturers, builders, contractors, and individuals from Baltimore to southern Virginia.

Processing: ceiling tile and carpet padding • CEILING TILE • We accept any type of ceiling tile • To be recyclable, it can’t be painted; have foil or insulated backing; or be under asbestos • CARPET PADDING • We accept any type of carpet padding • Polyurethane foam is recyclable, which is majority • There are also rubber and fiber padding
Processing: carpet • BROADLOOM • We accept any type of broadloom carpet • Most is Nylon 6 and Nylon 66, which is all recyclable • We also accept polypropylene and polyethylene • TILE • We accept any type of carpet tile • PVC backed tile only recycled through Tandus Industries • Ecoworx tile recycled through Shaw Industries • Much is donated for re-use to non-profit organizations
Collection Program: Drop Offs • Material can be dropped off loose or in bundles • Cost is lower • Received from 8 am to 4 pm Monday to Friday
Where It All Goes • Carpet is made into new carpet and other plastic items • Ceiling tile is made into new tile • Padding is made into new padding • These materials are increasingly exported for processing in other countries

Getting Greener • Most carpet manufacturers tout sustainability, but most don’t take it back • Buy only from those that do • Focus on recyclability, not just recycled content
