Technical advice and support to key sectors, including health agriculture and livestock • Supervise the implementation of national and sectoral policies, strategies, plans and activities • Advocacy with line ministries • Mobilize resources for nutrition activities in Nepal • Facilitate information sharing on nutrition, both within and between sectors • Identify knowledge gaps and research priorities to inform the design of more effective nutrition interventions • Facilitate the M&E strengthening • Strengthen multi-sectoral coordination and promote partnerships for nutrition Key roles and responsibilities
Maternal Nutrition WG In the process to develop strategy for maternal under-nutrition • Causal analysis framework and conceptual framework finalized • Format for the strategy prepared • Strategic components finalized • Major activities under each strategic components are being discussed Working Groups under NUTEC
Infant and Young Child Nutrition WG • IYCF strategy (first draft) has been developed • In the process to collect input and feedback • Training manuals, guidelines (HF and FCHV level) are being reviewed in line with the developed strategy Working Groups under NUTEC….
Infant and Young Child Nutrition Communication WG • Development of a detailed communication framework and plan of action in line with the National Communication Strategy for MNCH (of NHEICC) • Maternal Nutrition component has also been included Working Groups under NUTEC….
Growth Monitoring Promotion WG • Revised the GM card as per WHO new GM guidelines • GM guidelines, recording reporting format were also revised • Operational feasibility testing are being done in Rukum, Udaypur, Jumla and Dang Working Groups under NUTEC….
Emergency Nutrition WG • Emergency Nutrition Contingency plan 2012 drafted • Nutrition cluster contingency plan for flood emergencies is in development process • National guidelines to address MAM is in development process • IYCF-E guidelines is being developed • Anemia Control WG • Discussion for updating Anaemia Control Strategy is in process • Development of 2nd Plan of Action for Iron Deficiency Anemia Control is in process Working Groups under NUTEC….
Fortification WG • Home fortification with MNPs • Flour fortification at roller mills • Flour Fortification in chakki mills • Multi-SectoralNutrition WG • MSNP approved from Cabinet • Development of Implementation Guidelines in progress • Plan for piloting from 6 districts • Advocacy, Resources and capacity building Working Groups under NUTEC….
Iodine Deficiency Disorders (IDD) WG • 2ndPlan of Action (2013-2017) for Iodine Deficiency Disorders was drafted (by national expert) and is being reviewed by the international expert • Phase wise expansion of Iodized salt social marketing campaign to the districts having low consumption of adequately iodized salt was planned • Joint monitoring and supervision visit to Mid-western hill districts viz. Achham and Doti districts • A local NGO was assigned for social marketing campaign in these districts (supported by UNICEF) Working Groups under NUTEC….
